Our sixth and final stop for season one of the Hoka One One Top Trails video series is San Francisco, CA. Hoka runners Larisa Dannis and Magdalena Boulet lead us on a run on the historic Dipsea Trail, just north of San Francisco and the Golden Gate Bridge. The Dipsea Race is the oldest trail race in the country, and spans a 7.5 mile stretch from Mill Valley, CA to Stinson Beach.  The trail famously begins with a grueling climb up 688 stairs in the first mile.

Host Ian Terpin meets up with Jorge Maravilla (Hoka Runner / General Manager, San Francisco Running Company) and Brett Rivers (Owner, San Francisco Running Company) to discuss the trail running in Marin County and the Dipsea Trail.  Later, hosts Matt Barnhart and Ian Terpin sit down at the Parkside Cafe at Stinson Beach with Dave Albee (Dipsea Race Committee Member / Sports Journalist) to talk about the local legend Jack Kirk, a man who earned the nickname “The Dipsea Demon.”   Kirk ran 67 consecutive Dipsea races from 1930-2002 and ran his last Dipsea race at the age of 96.

Please do not bring dogs on trails they are NOT ALLOWED! Showing a dog on the East Peak is very poor and only encourages people to bring them on other trails they do NOT belong. As someone who has been bitten and tripped by someone's dogs, I do not appreciate this at all. Inconsiderate and irresponsible dog owners should NOT have dogs at the Mt. Tam summit or on the Dipsea Trail.
